Mustang News TV Engineering students create low-cost prosthetic that will change lives Cal Poly engineering students are partnering with the nonprofit Help One Walk International to change the lives of amputees. The goal of the project is to improve lives of people in Mozambique who have lost legs due to war, land mines and living their daily lives. A group of students are completing their senior projects by designing a $50 prosthetic prototype. The students work out of the QL+ lab located in Engineering IV (building 192). The same group of students traveled with Help One Walk International to India. The purpose was to visit Jaipur Foot, an organization that provides prosthetics to amputees. The students’ goal is to use the technology and ideas of Jaipur Foot to create a new and improved low-cost prosthetic in the United States.
