Cal Poly will be hosting the Strategic Diversity Leadership Institute to reveal the results from last year’s Cal Poly Experience (CPX) survey.
The keynote will be Thursday, Oct. 17 in the Recreation Center Multi-Activity Center.
The university partnered with Damon Williams, widely considered an expert on diversity, equity and inclusion, to help facilitate the CPX survey and listening sessions.
“We believe that organic discussions will emerge right after the results are shared,” University Spokesperson Matt Lazier said.
Williams will lead the address, along with President Jeffery Armstrong and Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion Jozi De Leon.
The keynote will be followed by additional sessions designed to dive deeper and discuss ways to create an everyday culture of inclusion, according to a news release. Sessions will continue into Friday with Williams.
A final comprehensive action plan will be shared with the campus community in early 2020.
Franchesca Ramsey
Thursday night, YouTube personality Franchesca Ramsey will lead a comedy-framed social justice conversation at 6:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Ramsey gained fame after her YouTube commentary on racial issues went viral. She has appeared on MTV and MSNBC.
Admission is free for Cal Poly students and employees with Cal Poly ID. Tickets for community members are $20.
