Former CSU administrator Jessica Darin was hired as Cal Poly President Jeffrey Armstrong’s new chief of staff and associate vice president on Wednesday.
After spending the last three years as deputy chief of staff for CSU Chancellor Timothy White, Darin will be stepping into her new role on May 2.
“Jessica’s background as an administrator at both the campus and system level within California public higher education makes her an excellent fit for Cal Poly,” Armstrong said in a media release.
Before becoming White’s deputy chief of staff, Darin worked for seven years at the UC Riverside chancellor’s office, including four years when White was chancellor.
As the president’s chief of staff, Darin will oversee the president’s office daily operations and be serving as Armstrong’s point of contact with Cal Poly’s Academic Senate, Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) and the stakeholders of Cal Poly.
“I am very excited about joining the Cal Poly family and look forward to working with such dedicated and talented faculty, staff and students,” Darin said in an emailed statement. “I’m also looking forward to being a part of the San Luis Obispo community and working closely with many of the university’s partners, alumni and friends.”
