The College of Liberal Arts (CLA) will host a community discussion on campaign finance reform Monday at 7 p.m. in the Alex and Faye Spanos Theater.
“Money in Politics: What Could Go Wrong?” will be hosted by nationally acclaimed leaders that challenge the fundamental concepts of democracy, CLA communications specialist Katie Van Meter said.
“When you have national leaders speaking to you, it’s a pivotal point in your education,” she said.
The discussion will be led by political science professor Michael Latner, former commissioner and chairman of the Federal Election Commission Trevor Potte, Harvard Law professor and author Lawrence Lessig, Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter and correspondent Hedrick Smith and Citizens Congress 2014 director William Ostrander.
After the panel discussion, Smith and Lessig will sign books on the Spanos Patio.
“Your future’s at stake,” Van Meter said. “If you don’t start getting involved in politics now, your voice might not be represented later.”
The event is free and open to the public.
