Good luck finding another restaurant that serves $4 40-oz beers on Thursdays. Chino’s Rock and Tacos will close its doors permanently today at 10 p.m., manager Mikal Dyer said in a phone call to Mustang News.
The news of Chino’s closing has not been announced to the San Luis Obispo community, Dyer said.
“It’s pretty much word-of-mouth right now,” Dyer said. “It’s getting around. Everyone is finding out really quickly.”
Dyer did not explain exactly why the restaurant is closing.
“You know, it’s business,” Dyer said. “Business is business. Things happen. Sometimes you aren’t ready for it, but unfortunately, it happened to us and we have to close.”
Chino’s Rock and Tacos is a small chain owned by founder Javier Cadena. Its San Luis Obispo location, the one that is closing, is located on 892 Marsh Street.
The restaurant is known for popular deals like Taco Tuesdays, when it sells $1 tacos, and Nacho Mama Thursdays with $4 nachos and $4 40-oz beers.
Correction: This article originally stated there is another Chino’s Rock and Tacos location in Paso Robles. That location is now closed.
