Cal Poly is seeking submissions for its annual Rose Float concept contest.
The contest will end this Friday, Feb. 6th, at 5 p.m. Anyone from the public may enter in as many ideas as they like to either the Rose Float office, on Cal Poly’s campus across from Yogurt Creations, or online at http://goo.gl/jrETWS. The design must be 11” x 17” or smaller and include a name, date and contact information, which should be placed on the back of the submission.
This year’s theme is “Find Your Adventure.” Aerospace freshman and Cal Poly Rose Float Assistant Program Leader Margaret Kennedy said they are looking for a float that is fun and creative.
“We want a float that shows what Cal Poly is all about,” Kennedy said.
Kennedy offered some tips for potential entrants. She said contestants should make sure the design of the float is not overloaded because it can detract from the overall aspect of the float, and to make sure the float has a cohesive theme.
The winner of the competition will be decided by June and receive the choice of two Rose Float tickets or $500.
After Cal Poly’s 2015 float won the Lathrop K. Leishman Trophy for the most beautiful noncommercial float, Cal Poly is looking to continue its success with 23 students on the Rose Float committee and even more volunteers. The float is built in collaboration with Cal Poly Pomona.
