It’s that time of the year again – the Cal Poly bike auction will take place on Monday Oct. 7 outside the University Police Department (UPD) building. The auction will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This is the first of the two bike auctions hosted by Cal Poly Transportation and Parking Services.
“We are also trying to give an economical option to students to buy a bicycle and really to help students use other modes of transportation outside of their vehicles to get around campus,” Director of Transportation and Parking Services Marlene Cramer said.
With more than 80 bikes up for sale, students can bid on bikes starting at ten dollars. This is a silent auction so the person with the highest bid at the end of the day wins the bike. On Tuesday Oct. 8, UPD will notify the winners who can then pick up the bikes on Wednesday Oct. 9. If the bike is not claimed on Wednesday, it will go to the second highest bidder until the bike is sold.
