A Cal Poly alumnus died in a car crash early Saturday morning.
Sanjeev Joshi, 23, was driving on U.S. Highway 1, just south of Devil’s Slide in San Mateo County, when he crashed at approximately 3 a.m., San Jose Mercury News reported.
Joshi was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity at Cal Poly.
“This weekend the Kappi Pi chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity lost a great man, brother, and friend to the eternal chapter,” Sigma Nu President Jason Ferrel said in a statement emailed to Mustang News. “Brother Joshi was a brother that exemplified the meaning of love, truth and honor in everything he did. Please keep the friends, family and brothers of Sanjeev in your thoughts and prayers and help celebrate a life that left a positive impact on so many.”
The collision closed all lanes of the highway just south of Pacifica for several hours until 8:30 a.m. Saturday, according to California Highway Patrol.
Joshi was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other people in the car were taken to the hospital.
It is unclear if Joshi was the driver or passenger.
