In a move likely to bum out all non-Cal State Fullerton fans throughout the Big West Conference, Titans guard Josh Akognon announced Monday he decided not to remain in the NBA Draft, and will return to college for his senior season.
Last season, Akognon — a transfer from Washington State — led the Titans with 20.2 points per game, and posted 31 points in a 71-56 loss March 20 to Wisconsin in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
He declared his eligibility in April but didn’t hire an agent, allowing himself the opportunity to come back. Although he reportedly worked out for the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors, he had “no shot” of being drafted, according to ESPN’s Andy Katz.
The move mirrors that of former Titans gunner Bobby Brown, who also tested the waters following his junior season before deciding to come back. Brown, though, ultimately went undrafted and is currently playing professionally in Germany.
