The women’s basketball team’s Senior Day and the baseball team’s second series of the season highlight an upcoming weekend of blood, sweat and tears for Cal Poly Athletics.
The women’s basketball team begins the week on Wednesday, taking on Long Beach State in Mott Athletics Center. The team returns to Mott for Senior Day on Saturday, a 2 p.m. game against UC Santa Barbara and the last home contest of the season.
The men’s basketball team continues home competition on Thursday, hosting Cal State Fullerton at 7 p.m. Cal Poly looks to overcome a 75-71 overtime loss against CSUN this past Saturday.
Softball will head to Stockton on Friday for a three-day tournament. The Mustangs start the tournament on the heels of a 2-0 win over No. 9 Arizona last Sunday.
The Cal Poly baseball team’s second series of the year will be a three-game set against UCLA starting Friday at 6 p.m. and ending on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Mustangs, who closed out their last series against Pacific with a 19-2 victory, will also play Michigan at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
Saturday’s action begins with the men’s tennis team competing at home against Fresno State. The Mustangs also compete on Sunday against Pacific at Mustang Tennis Complex at 12 p.m.
The women’s tennis team will look to rebound from a home-court loss against Pacific with an away matchup against Santa Clara at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The team will remain in Santa Clara for a final match on Sunday against Nevada at 1 p.m.
On the mat, the wrestling team will become the first Cal Poly unit to enter postseason play this winter, with the Pac-12 Conference Championships set to begin at Arizona State on Saturday morning.
Overall, this weekend holds many events for Cal Poly athletics as teams attempt to solidify seeds in conference championships and gain berths into national tournaments.
