Mustangs try to make up for losses on court

The Cal Poly men’s basketball team is not only trying to rebound from what head coach Kevin Bromley calls a “frustrating” Saturday loss at UC Riverside, but also from the announcement earlier this week that starting senior guard Dawin Whiten will likely be out for the rest of the season due to plantar fasciitis in his right foot.

Orchesis offers variety of 'Momentum' to all

If a dance is like a poem where each movement is a word, then the Orchesis dance company had a lot to say when they opened their 38th annual show, “Momentum,” Friday night.

Greeted by a full house, the company presented its passion and love of dance in full-hearted performances that ran the gamut from modern and emotional to hip-hop with a little funk mixed in.

Argentinian artist presents slideshow lecture

“Uncommon,” “different” and “rare” can all be used to describe Isabel Barbuzza’s work, but “incomparable” is the only word that can really do it justice. Barbuzza, an artist from Argentina, has smashed the mold of standard artistic images and used the remnants to create unique pieces that she will discuss and present during a free slideshow lecture from 5 to 6 p.

Orchesis gaining 'momentum'

Expressing feelings and thoughts nonverbally can be near impossible at times, but The Orchesis Dance Company plans to do just that when they open “Momentum,” their 38th annual concert at 8 p.m. Friday. Featuring Cal Poly students, faculty, community members and award-winning guests, the company will bring to life a diverse and complex range of emotions through various forms of dance.

The Cal Poly women’s basketball team will attempt to build on its best Big West Conference start ever when it visits Pacific at 7 p.m. tonight. The Mustangs will be looking to re-establish their position in the conference championship race after suffering their first Big West defeat in 10 months, against rival UC Santa Barbara on Saturday.

GrC conference goes 'green' for Printing Week

Communication Institute will host a “Green Media” conference Thursday that will feature some of the top graphic communication professionals from across the nation.

Dissent as Design gallery focuses on controversial issues

Everyone knows the catchy McDonald’s tune featuring the classic slogan “I’m lovin’ it.” However, few would imagine that by simply changing a word and vertically flipping the iconic golden arches an anti-war slogan could be born.
