Poly women's tennis team to host tourney

The Cal Poly Invitational will take place this weekend, marking the only home event for the women’s tennis team this fall.

The competition will be tough, as Cal Poly will play against UC Santa Barbara and Northridge in the tournament. All three Big West Conference teams were in the national rankings last year.

Cal Poly fraternity Pi Kappa Alpha and seven sororities stepped up to the plate this weekend, literally.

Sunday marked the first Emergency Services Appreciation Day, in which Cal Poly’s greek life teamed up with local police officers and firefighters to play in a charity softball game that benefited the Bence Family Austyn Bence Memorial Fund.

Poly Reps still guiding students 21 years later

Last month Poly Reps turned 21 years old. Since its founding in 1985, the group has done its best to promote all that is good about Cal Poly to those interested in coming to the university.

“It started as a group of people talking and realizing that Cal Poly needed to be represented from a student perspective,” said Poly Reps President Lana Smith.

CSU system and faculty association fail to agree

The California State University system and the California Faculty Association were unable to come to terms on several salary issues last month, but the CSU system does not believe the failure in negotiations will interrupt classes.
