Luke Yoder’s single into left-center field broke open a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the tenth inning and gave the Mustangs the victory over visiting UC Santa Barbara on Friday night.

Classic opera to be performed at Cal Poly

La Boheme, the popular romantic opera by Puccini, will be performed at the Performing Arts Center on April 9 at 7:30 p.m. and April 11 at 2 p.m. The performance will be put on by Opera San Luis and ticket prices range from $25-$65 with discounts for students, children and large groups of 10 or more people.

Chase Pami takes second in NCAA championships

Chase Pami became the sixth NCAA wrestling runner-up in Cal Poly history at the recent NCAA championships. Pami competed in the 157-pound weight class and was the lowest seeded wrestler to advance to the finals in any weight class this year.

The University of Houston pounded out 16 hits and blew open a 2-2 tie with a seven run fourth inning en route to a 13-8 victory Friday night against the Mustangs. The Mustangs tallied 11 hits on the night, but also struck out 15 times. The second game of the series is set for 6 p.m. tomorrow in Baggett Stadium.

Mustangs drop heartbreaker to Titans

The Cal Poly men’s basketball team dropped a heartbreaking 70-68 game Wednesday night as Jacques Streeter hit a running bank shot as time expired to propel Cal State Fullerton to victory. The game was televised regionally on Fox Sports Net West.

Irvine rallies past Mustangs in overtime

UC Irvine rallied from an eight point deficit in the final 48 seconds to force overtime against Cal Poly. Junior Darren Moore hit a three-point shot with 0.9 seconds in regulation to tie it and Irvine outscored the Mustangs 17-10 in overtime to get the win. The loss means the Mustangs will be the sixth seed in the upcoming Big West conference tournament beginning on Wednesday.
