Top-ranked Poly defense hopes to contain Grant
Kyle Shotwell and Courtney Brown are possibly the two best players on Cal Poly’s defense, which ranks No. 1 among 117 Division I-AA teams in fewest points allowed per game.
Just don’t ask the sideline-to-sideline senior middle linebacker Shotwell or the ball-hawking senior cornerback Brown what it’s like to have that claim.
Future of Polyratings in question
Polyratings.com, a popular Web site on which Cal Poly students have rated their professors since 1999, might shut down in the near future if its chief engineer cannot find someone to take his place.
J. Paul Reed, who has been running the site since the spring of 2001, said Monday that he no longer has the time to maintain the site.

Poly professor takes German ambassador post for Afghanistan
Cal Poly social sciences professor Maliha Zulfacar, a native of Afghanistan who has actively spent her summers aiding in the rebuilding of the country, has been appointed as Afghanistan’s ambassador to Germany.
Zulfacar, who spends the academic year at Cal Poly teaching classes about global ethnic conflict and geopolitics, is the first woman to be appointed as an ambassador from Afghanistan.
