Commercials cater to a stupid America

So I’m loungin’ in the crib just watchin’ TV and some punk-ass commercial had the nerve to diss me. Most commercials on television these days are just plain stupid. And the trend in these ads is assuming you’re stupid, too. Take, for instance, the commercials where two people are talking on the phone and the call gets dropped, ruining the conversation and causing an awkward moment.

Ridiculous fairy-tale a modern must-see

“Enchanted” is a movie that would be doomed if it had any self-doubt. Luckily, it’s an all-out, ridiculously cute ode to princess fairy tales.

Amy Adams and James Marsden are fully committed to their roles of would-be princess and prince. As in any Disney movie, the characters burst into song unannounced and a woodland creature is the sidekick – in this case it’s a chipmunk named Pip.

I stopped learning lessons in 7th grade

You know what really grinds my gears? Television. Let’s be honest; even if you like shows on television, the Writers Guild of America strike is putting most of them on hiatus. For example, Saturday Night Live is on re-runs. This is annoying, because now I can’t spend 40 minutes of watching crappy sketches on the show just to get to the most recent Digital Short! And the supreme act of masochism that is watching Steve Carell’s performance on “The Office” no longer exists, and now I’ve had to resort to swallowing glass and sugar in order to receive the same amount of pleasure and pain.

Round up: Women's hoops 1-2 over break

LOS ANGELES — The Cal Poly women’s basketball program’s first game against UCLA in nearly 32 years produced a less than desirable result on Nov. 20 as the Mustangs dropped a 107-83 decision to the Bruins at Pauley Pavilion.

Junior forward Lisa McBride led Cal Poly in scoring for the third time in four games this season, but the Mustangs, despite holding an early lead, surrendered 52 first-half points.
