Big West softball coaches pick Poly to lead the pack

The defending Big West Conference champion Cal Poly softball team was narrowly selected to take first place again this season in the preseason coaches poll released Tuesday.

Last season marked the Cal Poly softball program’s first Big West title and its first trip to the NCAA Division I Tournament.

Poly students vandalize UCSB campus before games

With both the Cal Poly men’s and women’s basketball home games against rival UC Santa Barbara just days away, the UCSB campus was vandalized Tuesday night by Cal Poly students, the Mustang Daily learned Wednesday.

The vandalism included several graffiti tags, the largest of which being “Cal Poly Rules,” painted in green and gold on a planter outside the Thunderdome, the Gauchos’ basketball arena.
