Zamora gives Mustangs OT win at home

Cal Poly sophomore forward David Zamora finished Jacob Hustedt’s cross with a one-time header to the corner of the net to finalize a 3-2 win over Cal State Bakersfield on Wednesday night at Alex G. Spanos Stadium.

“Their team has a great goalkeeper so when I saw that cross, I was just like, ‘Get my head on the ball and hopefully I’ll get a goal,’ ” Zamora said of his score in the 103rd minute.

Why would he do it?

A good old-fashioned midnight kiss

Critics have hailed “In Search of a Midnight Kiss,” directed by Alex Holdridge, as the best American indie film in years, with comparisons to Woody Allen’s early works such as “Manhattan,” and “Annie Hall”. Formidable freshmen lead Mustangs

For the second year in a row, the Cal Poly men’s soccer team’s leading scorer hasn’t been a seasoned, wise, senior. It hasn’t been a junior turning the corner to stardom, nor even a sophomore providing promising glimpses into the future.

Indeed, Mustangs defender Patrick Sigler, the 2005 California Gatorade Player of the Year who redshirted last year, is a freshman – just like forward David Zamora was in 2007 when he had a team-high 17 points.

Books with power: fall quarter must-reads

Hi, my name is Chelsea and I am a book-o-holic. I love beginnings, middles and ends, the anticipation of what happens next, and, of course, the way the pages smell. (Is that only me?) Reading offers a calm escape in today’s fast-paced world, and should not be put on the back burner now that the rigors of

fall quarter are bestowed upon us.
