Think you’re the next brilliant playwright? Campus constituents with creative writing skills can submit their scripts, on any subject, to the Student’s Stage playwriting competition held this month. Three winners will receive $50,and their work will be featured in the spring show.

Thanks to various Cal Poly organizations there are multiple ways to purchase Valentine’s Days goodies without leaving campus. Flowers Cal Poly’s floral design club is holding it’s traditional fundraiser for Valentine’s Day by selling bouquets arranged by award-winning florists.

German movie nights break down walls

Cal Poly’s Modern Languages and Literatures Department will show a series of German films for students interested in a deeper analysis of the culture.

“A Nation Through the Lens: Historic Events in German Film” will showcase 11 films Wednesdays 8 p.m. to 10 p.

New program teaches students about police life

The University Police Department is holding a new type of training course for students interested in learning more about the role of police officers in throughout the county.

The course goes from March 31 to June 2 with classes held once a week. Applicants will practice live action training in traffic collision investigations, crime scene investigation, and domestic violence issues as well as tour the county jail.

President Barack Obama has been criticized by the press for not being strong enough, demanding enough, or even mean enough. These critics continue to find certain flaws, searching for anything and everything to prove that he can’t be perfect. Internationally-acclaimed architect kicks off winter lecture series

World-renowned for his contemporary and environmental designs, New York architect Joel Sanders will kick off the first lecture of the College of Architecture and Environmental Design’s winter Hearst Lecture Series Friday.

Sanders, of Joel Sanders Architects is an associate professor at Yale University School of Architecture and has completed numerous residential, commercial and interior design projects with sustainable environmental design firms.

Organic farm, shelter team up to provide food

Thanks to the enterprising workers at the Cal Poly organic farm, patrons at the Maxine Lewis Memorial Shelter enjoy more than canned foods donated by the community. Recently, the community supported agriculture program at the organic farm teamed up with the shelter to provide a variety of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables for shelter users to dine on.
