Hall of Fame class eagerly awaits induction

Students, intramural teams and sports clubs at Cal Poly will soon be able to play all year round on the new turf fields currently being installed at the Upper Sports Complex. The fields are part of the Recreation Center Expansion, which was approved by 75 percent of students who voted last year.

Culturefest celebrates diversity with beats and good eats

Cal Poly students and parents had the chance to see another side of campus when the MultiCultural Center hosted its 11th Annual Culturefest on Sunday, coinciding with Parent’s Weekend.

Price was right for Poly student

Cal Poly business junior Nikole Mackenzie’s studying paid off this summer, not by gaining a degree, but by becoming the winner of an award showcase on “The Price is Right”.
Mackenzie organized a trip with 20 friends to CBS Television City in Los Angeles with the intent of making it onto the program.

Cal Poly students uneasy with the news that an attempted robbery and sexual assault allegedly took place at an apartment on Leff Street Tuesday should remember that Cal Poly is one of the safest campuses in the California State University system, according to University Police Chief Bill Watton.

Campus tech park funding approved

Cal Poly’s Technology Park, a building that will house commercial firms for collaborative research, is several steps closer to becoming a reality. At their Sept. 16th meeting, the CSU Board of Trustees approved the $4.5 million design-build proposal submitted by the San Luis Obispo firm, Rarig Construction.

Cal Poly breezes by Pacific

The Mustangs swept the Tigers 25-23, 25-10, 25-21 at Mott Gym. The match was memorable for Mustangs head coach Jon Stevenson as both his 100th at Cal Poly (9-6, 4-0 Big West Conference), and his 23rd sweep there.

Poly professor's research in national magazine

There may be more to the Earth’s magnetic field than commonly thought, says Cal Poly physics professor emeritus Kenneth Hoffman.

New research published in the weekly Science Magazine, by Hoffman and geochemistry professor Bradley Singer of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, suggests there is a second source of energy in the Earth’s magnetic field.

New campus eatery offers food with a "homemade" feel

Garden Grille, the made-to-order salad, sandwich, pasta, and hamburger restaurant that came to Cal Poly in 2005, is gone. The garden-themed restaurant was replaced over the summer with the modernized, train and subway-themed 19 Metro Station.

The change was just one of many recent dining renovations which include the facelift of Baja Sol, previously named Veranda Café, the replacement of Tapango’s by the Dexter lawn with Rockin’ Bar-P-Q and the opening of Starbucks in the University Union.

Thousands attend "Back to skool" concert

Morro Bay’s first ever outdoor Hip-Hop concert, featuring headliners Sean Kingston and Shwayze, rocked the Embarcadero on Sunday.

The event, billed as the first annual Back to Skool Orientation concert, took place in the parking lot at 714 Embarcadero Blvd.
