Poly students streak for cancer

Cal Poly has a new tradition, one that dwarfs the now-dying Mardi Gras celebrations and also contributes to a cause. And while it

Let's not lose that loving feeling

Heart-shaped boxes, roses and teddies (both the bear and the wear) for V-Day – we’re ready. Remember in elementary school when Valentine’s Day meant getting a butt-load of candy and Power Rangers or Barbie or Care Bear cards? Those were the days! Now that we’re older, the ante is raised; our tastes are more sophisticated.

Poly's 'low key' guard is flying high

Lorenzo Keeler would be a San Jose State Spartan if not for an unfortunate circumstance that landed him here at Cal Poly, but that doesn’t mean he’s not proud to wear green and gold on the basketball court.

The sophomore guard, and second-leading scorer on the team, with 8.

Political trends in everyday situations

We keep on hating while these politicians are debating, when we need to be learning their strategies and imitating. We can all learn valuable life lessons from politicians. I mean, to get so many people to like them, they have to be doing something right. That’s why this week I’m doing something a little different; I’m proposing that we take political trends and use them in everyday situations.

Cal Poly tries to gain momentum

The Cal Poly men’s basketball team will attempt to add to its two-game winning streak at UC Riverside at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Coming off of a tough win Monday at Pacific, which came in large part due to clutch performances including a 3-pointer from senior forward Matt Hanson and four free throws by junior guard Chaz Thomas, the Mustangs stand at 8-11 overall and 3-4 in Big West Conference play.

Rambo: the ultimate action-hero badass

Ready for a lesson in the fragility of the human body? “Rambo” can teach you everything you need to know.

If you’re looking for an ’80s formula action movie with modern special effects, this is it. And it is awesome. An intensely gory film depicting modern combat and the wretched condition of those living under a genocidal regime, “Rambo” should succeed in entertaining the action-film junkie while tugging gently on their heartstrings.

What does 'epic' even mean anymore, Hollywood?

To epic flicks, people herd like cattle, so bring out the beasts, it’s time to battle. Hollywood is out of control right now. Ever since the era of computer-driven special effects began, we’ve been seeing epic movie after epic movie. But you gotta wonder, how will this escalation of epic-ness end? We saw epic war movies like “Troy” come out and dazzle us by showing thousands of ships carrying men with stupidly long hair to battle.

Mustangs dunk Davis, 79-67

Coming off of a three-game losing streak, the Cal Poly men’s basketball team handed UC Davis a definitive 79-67 loss in a game that at times resembled the video game “NBA Jam.”

Cal Poly trailed the Aggies for the entire first half, but stayed in the game in part due to guard Chaz Thomas’ catching fire.

TV's renewed use of reality rubbish

They say that life’s a game. Well, TV is the same. So who’s up next to get their 15 minutes of fame? Sometimes I wish “Real World” never happened. Then we wouldn’t be stuck with these crappy reality shows. The newest trend in these suck-fests is the “next” phenomenon.
