Cal Poly ASI is paying this year for a new question-and-answer web page to increase accessibility for students.

Associated Students, Inc. is answering Cal Poly students’ questions on a new web page called InvolveU.
InvolveU allows students to ask questions about topics related to Cal Poly, which are answered by four members of ASI, student government Chief of Staff Derek Majewski said. He highlighted the service’s ease of use as a strength.
“We are not asking for anything,” Majewski said. “This is purely a tool for students, it’s basically effortless.”
The number of entries on InvolveU varies, Majewski said: Sometimes it receives several questions in a day, and some days it receives none at all. ASI aims to answer questions within 24 to 48 hours, and they have answered all the questions submitted so far.
The project began 2 1/2 years ago with biology senior Cale Reid, who was an executive cabinet member of ASI at the time. Reid was looking for a way to get student feedback, in a format that was more modern than a suggestion box, Majewski said.
The webpage itself launched on Jan. 10. Two questions were submitted that night, Majewski said.
The service has recently answered questions about safety in Cal Poly’s parking structure and the ASI Facilities Master Plan.
The service is administered through software called Lib Answers. ASI learned about the software through Kennedy Library, which used the software for a number of years, Majewski said.
The software is paid for with an annual subscription fee. The cost is $699 per year.
