Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) Board of Directors met Feb. 22 for its biweekly meeting in the University Union (UU) room 220. Topics discussed included:
Chair of the board Katie Titus reported:
• California lieutenant governor will visit Cal Poly Friday and meet the leadership team and one representative from each college.
ASI President Kiyana Tabrizi reported:
• Members of the leadership team attended California Student State Association is Chico last weekend. They spoke of a possible stability plan and looked into if it needs for fees.
• The Mustang Way committee met this week and is moving forward with a draft.
• The Student Success Fee Task force has been meeting and is coming together well.
Chair of University Union Advisory Board Karen Mesrobian reported:
• The staff is finishing up next year’s budget.
• The climbing park will be constructed during spring break. It will take 10 days for PolyEscapes to move into its new location in the Recreation Center. It will begin moving during dead week.
• PolyEscapes will soon offer a paddleboarding class.
• Students have sent in comments complaining the lighting and music volume are too low in the outside areas of the Recreation Center. ASI said it is out of respect for nearby neighbors to the Recreation Center.
Executive director Rick Johnson reported:
• A leadership forum is being held this weekend for the current Board to connect with alumni.
Cal Poly Corporation representative Bonnie Murphy reported:
• The Subway construction on campus got important approval from the state. They are moving forward as planned, but do not have a final date set yet.
ASI Advocacy Committee representative Aaron Borgeson reported:
• They are working with the City of San Luis Obispo on details of the city’s sound ordinance.
ASI outreach and communication committee representative Ryan Christ reported:
• They are still working on a poster campaign which highlights what student government can do for the local community.
ASI club funding liaisons Derek Majewski and Eric Freeman reported:
• ASI club funding has been exhausted.
