The Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) Board of Directors met on Wednesday evening to hear any student concerns and discuss current campus issues and updates.
- During the open forum representatives from the Pride Center voiced their frustration at the size of the office the group occupies in the University Union, and asked the board to consider giving the Pride Center a larger space.
- Solomon Reda, filling in for chair of the University Union Advisory Board Katie Mesrobian, announced that construction on the Recreation Center is on schedule and the facility will be opening in January.
- Kaitlin Harr was approved as the ASI Board vice chair and Taylor Serres was approved to fill the vacancy in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences.
- Academic Senate representative James LoCascio reported that at the Academic Senate meeting on September 16, the California State University (CSU) Chancellor announced his intention to get a 3 percent raise for all CSU employees. Locasio said that the chancellor intends to go first to the state legislature, and if unable to get the money there he will go to the CSU Board of Trustees about raising student fees to pay for the raise.
- Cal Poly Corporation representative Bonnie Murphy announced that she hopes a Subway will be opened up on campus during winter quarter, in the space currently occupied by The Park.
- Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Cornel Morton reported that enrollment for Fall Quarter 2011 is up from last year by 2.2 percent.
