Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) Board of Directors met for its biweekly meeting last night, Nov. 2. Topics discussed included:
- ASI chief of staff Katie Morrow announced that the ASI Executive Cabinet will be submitting an application within the next week for a $1,000 grant from the California State Students Association’s Greenovation Fund. This grant would fund a campus-wide initiative to implement the use of reusable bags on campus. It will also provide education about the importance of reusable bags and the dangers of plastic bags, Morrow said.
- ASI executive director Rick Johnson reported that last Friday the interviews for the new Recreation Center staff were completed and orientation begins today.
- ASI director of business services Dwayne Brummett presented the ASI Budget Variance Report, which states last year’s projected ASI budget compared to what was spent. In total, the budget was $47,803 “unfavorable,” or exceeding what was expected. Brummett said that the report was “all in all” not negative, but “not excessively positive either.”
- Cal Poly Corporation representative Bonnie Murphy reported that the “last word” received from Subway “three or four weeks ago” was that they will open their Cal Poly location on time in January.
