The Dean of Students Office is looking into three reported fraternity parties.

Dean of Students Jean DeCosta is looking into three reported fraternity parties that took place while greek life members were still on social probation, which barred chapters from hosting alcohol-related events.
DeCosta is looking into reports of parties that were possibly affiliated with Interfraternity Council (IFC) organizations Delta Sigma Phi, Phi Kappa Psi and Pi Kappa Alpha, she said.
“We heard some rumors that there were some parties over the weekend that may be greek-affiliated,” she said. “We are meeting with greek leaders of those chapters to determine the degree of which that information is accurate.”
One event DeCosta is aware of includes a reported party on Chaplin Lane that received a citation from the San Luis Obispo Police Department (SLOPD). The SLOPD log states there was a noise violation at an event held at the house on Friday night with more than 100 guests and alcohol present, and names two Pi Kappa Alpha members as the people police spoke to at the party.
IFC President and business administration junior Domenic Hjerpe, a member of Pi Kappa Alpha, said he was at the reported party on Friday as a “social individual,” but that the party was not affiliated with his fraternity.
Though guests of the event said it was affiliated with Pi Kappa Alpha, the residence is not a registered satellite house, Hjerpe said. The president of Pi Kappa Alpha declined to comment.
“Pi Kappa Alpha did not host a fraternity party on Friday night; I attended a party on Chaplin that was not fraternity-related,” Hjerpe said.
Hjerpe added that a friend who is not a member of greek life invited him to the party.
Delta Sigma Phi President and nutrition senior Gear McMillan said reports of his fraternity hosting an event are “clearly a misunderstanding.” As of Wednesday afternoon, he had not heard anything from DeCosta regarding the issue.
“There is no possibility to investigate a Delta Sigma Phi event because there was no event,” McMillan said. “We have refrained from having any social events that could even be considered ‘parties.’”
The third event being looked into is a party held on Friday night at an apartment on Kentucky Street often associated with Phi Kappa Psi. The president of Phi Kappa Psi did not return multiple requests for comment.
