The Cal Poly men’s tennis team continued its winning streak with a 5-2 victory over Radford University in a non-conference match on Wednesday at Mustang Courts. With the victory — their third straight — the Mustangs improved to 5-8 overall while Radford fell to 1-5.
The Mustangs started the match off strong, when freshman Ben Donovan and senior Jurgen De Jager dominated Radford’s duo of Joe Mills and Javier Waase, 8-2, in doubles play. Cal Poly’s Devin Barber and Corey Pang followed in their teammate’s footsteps with a 8-5 win over Janken Thoen and Nico Ascarrunz.
Radford followed up with a 6-3 and 7-5 defeat of Cal Poly senior Marco Comuzzo on the first court, but the Mustangs retook the lead when Pang defeated Ascarrunz on the third court, 6-4 and 6-3.
The match-clinching win came when sophomore Gannon Daynes took care of Thoen in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
The Mustangs return to the courts for home matches against Furman on Thursday and Penn on Saturday.
