The morning of the Cal Poly men’s basketball team‘s regular-season opener against Arkansas-Little Rock at 7 tonight in Mott Gym, UALR indefinitely suspended its leading scorer from last season.
Junior guard Steven Moore didn’t make the trip due to “conduct detrimental to the team,” the school announced.
Moore, a 6-footer, averaged 9.9 points and a team-best 3.5 assists per outing last year while finishing third in the Sun Belt Conference in 3-point shooting, at 43.3 percent.
It should be interesting to see how the Mustangs deliver on head coach Kevin Bromley’s promises of a more up-tempo, full-court style.
They certainly have the quickness and straight-line speed in the backcourt.
For quite some time, Bromley’s also stressed a need to get center Titus Shelton more touches.
Shelton slimmed down this offseason, dropping about 20 pounds to fit into the new team concept.
