The Cal Poly University Police Department (UPD) recovered three bikes stolen from the Cal Poly campus on Dec. 9 and arrested one person in connection with the theft, according to UPD Commander Brenda Trobaugh.
The investigation is still ongoing, Trobaugh said. The person arrested was not from San Luis Obispo, but often comes to the area.
After the incident, Trobaugh stressed the need for students to register their bikes at UPD or with the San Luis Obispo Police Department. That way, if a bicycle is stolen, police would know whose bike it is when recovered and would be able to return it.
“If they don’t have their bike registered, we can’t track it back to them,” she said.
