While Cal Poly’s football home opener tomorrow against Montana will likely draw a bigger crowd, its women’s volleyball showdown against No. 2 Nebraska tonight may not only be more historically important for the respective program, but more telling as far as this season.
Huskers head coach John Cook even told the Grand Island Independent of Grand Island, Neb., “San Luis Obispo, this is their season,” and called Cal Poly “a great blocking and defensive team.”
The No. 14 Mustangs (3-1) won their first contest of the Paso Robles Courtyard Marriott Invitational at Mott Gym by sweeping Tulane (1-3) 25-10, 25-16, 25-13.
Tonight’s match against the Huskers (4-0), the 2006 national champion, is at 7:30 p.m.
