The Sports Network’s David Coulson on Friday ranked Cal Poly senior Jonathan Dally the No. 5 quarterback in the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA).
Last season, the Allan Hancock College transfer directed the Mustangs offense to 487.1 yards per game, the No. 2 output in the country, trailing only national champion Appalachian State’s 488.3.
He completed 54 percent of his 192 passes for 2,238 yards and 29 touchdowns with five interceptions, finishing second in the country in passing efficiency — behind only San Diego’s Josh Johnson, drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fifth round of April’s NFL Draft.
A formidable dual threat, Dally added 763 yards and 12 scores on 182 carries.
Ranked above Dally were Appalachian State junior Armanti Edwards, Central Arkansas senior Nathan Brown, Holy Cross senior Dominic Randolph and Eastern Washington junior Matt Nichols.
