It hasn’t been a bad Internet week for Cal Poly senior wide receiver Ramses Barden.
On June 19, he was named the top “small school” prospect in the country by NFLDraftDog.com (which has his 40-yard dash time at 4.54-4.6 seconds and rates him as a 3rd-4th rounder), and was recently named to the updated Consensus Draft Services Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) preseason All-American First Team. (Mustangs junior linebacker Ryan Shotwell was named a defensive honorable mention.)
Football-related quote-of-the-day honors go to South Dakota athletics director Joel Nielsen, who told Kevin Fee of the Grand Forks Herald that adding an all-sports division under the umbrella of the Great West conference is like “trying to build and create a 747 and get it off the pad.”
