The Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) Board of Directors unanimously voted to support Cal Poly staying on the quarter system at its meeting Wednesday night.
Biological sciences senior and board member Derek Majewski made the motion to approve Resolution 1303 — the ASI Board of Directors’ stance on potential semester conversion.
This move follows the overwhelming student support recorded this past week with the ASI Student Advisory Vote on semesters. In the online vote, which could be accessed through the My Cal Poly Portal system, 89.8 percent of students voted to keep the university on the quarter system.
“We are in favor of remaining on the current system,” Majewski said. “ASI Board of Directors strongly supports remaining on the quarter system.”
The resolution will be sent to California State University (CSU) Chancellor Timothy White and Cal Poly President Jeffrey Armstrong — both of whom met today to discuss semester conversion on the CSU level.
ASI president Katie Morrow was not present for the meeting because of her involvement in the candlelight vigil for deceased biological sciences sophomore Brandon Huang, which took place at the same time.
