A two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon prompted the University Police Department (UPD) and San Luis Obispo police to work together and close traffic on Foothill Boulevard headed toward Cal Poly’s campus.
The accident occurred when a Nissan Altima headed toward California Boulevard — away from campus — swerved to avoid a Honda Civic pulling out of a parking lot, said Amanda Linnett, a biological sciences sophomore and friend of the Nissan’s driver. The Nissan “just clipped” the Honda, which was pulling out of an apartment complex, Linnett said.
No one was injured in the collision, though both vehicles sustained damage to their front ends.
“She (my friend) is obviously upset, it’s never fun to get in accidents,” Linnett said. “Luckily, no one was hurt.”
Police expected traffic to be moving normally soon after the vehicles were towed, UPD officer Jason LeClair said.
