A recent Cal Poly graduate was found dead in Hawaii over winter break.
Former chemistry student Clay Carlson, 25, was visiting family in Kauai and was found in Anini Stream at the bottom of a 10-foot waterfall on New Year’s Eve, the Honolulu Star-Bulletin reported Tuesday. An autopsy was performed Monday and Kauai officials said there was no evidence of foul play.
The Star-Bulletin also reported that President Bush declared Kauai and Oahu disaster areas Monday after December’s storms. The heavy rainfall, flooding and strong winds led to tornado and flash flood warnings.
While in San Luis Obispo, Carlson was often outdoors surfing, backpacking or working on glass blowing using an oven modified by him and his friends.
