The Cal Poly men’s soccer team tied No. 19 UC Santa Barbara 0-0 Wednesday night at Santa Barbara’s Harder Stadium.
The attendance of 9,749 was well short not only of the all-time national record of 12,224, but also of the 11,075 that filed into Alex G. Spanos Stadium for the teams’ first meeting this year (when the Mustangs lost 1-0 Oct. 17 in San Luis Obispo).
The Big West Conference-leading Mustangs (10-4-5, 5-2-3), who could’ve clinched the conference’s regular-season title with a win, visit UCLA at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Cal Poly senior goalkeeper Eric Branagan-Franco made five saves, two more than his Gauchos counterpart, Kristopher Minton.
Mustangs forward David Zamora took a team-high four shots – two of which were on goal.
Although play was momentarily stopped due to two men who streaked across the pitch, there weren’t any widespread riotous actions taken at the latest installment of the rivalry.
