Over the summer, construction on campus intensifies because of the absence of many students. Four large capital projects are currently under construction and the university will see more than 100 renovations to its facilities, according to Gail Pipal, the associate director for Projects and Architectural Trades.
Some students, like mathematics senior Kristin Symer and statistics senior Chelsea Lofland, think the construction hinders their walks to class.
Symer said it appears as if all walking paths on campus have shifted.
“It causes problems because what normally takes 10 minutes now takes 15 minutes,” Symer said.
Other than disturbing the routes to class, they said the construction also interferes when students are in class.
“The sounds from the construction really interfere when in class,” Lofland said.
