Robert Glidden will serve as Cal Poly’s interim president beginning Aug. 1, according to a press release by Cal Poly.
“Bob is an experienced president and higher education administrator, and his leadership will help Cal Poly to continue moving forward,” said CSU Chancellor Charles B. Reed in the press release. “He has a wealth of experience and has served in a variety of capacities at several comprehensive four-year universities. We appreciate that he has agreed to un-retire and join the Cal Poly campus.”
Glidden is president emeritus of Ohio University and attended the University of Iowa where he earned a bachelors of arts in music, master of arts in music performance and literature as well as a doctorate in music, according to the press release.
Glidden will take over following the retirement of President Warren Baker July 31 and will serve until a new president is appointed.
Candidates Dr. Steven Angle, Dr. Sona K. Andrews and Dr. Carlo Montemagno visited Cal Poly in May but were not hired by the CSU Board of Trustees. The Chancellor said in a press release in May that a new group of candidates will be considered in the fall.
