In response to Nathan Tsoi’s letter to the editor on April 25 regarding gun control in the wake of the Virginia Tech shootings, I couldn’t agree more. The truth is, there is little we can do to stop a determined criminal from using a firearm to commit some terrible act; passing legislation to keep citizens from carrying concealed firearms means little to somebody as desperate as Cho Seung-Hui. As Nathan put it: “Legislation means nothing to criminals.” If law-abiding citizens were able to carry concealed weapons after mandated training and safety requirements have been met, society would be a safer place.
