The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department is advising people to safeguard valuables left in their cars. More than 30 cars have been burglarized in San Miguel in the last three months.
“We want people to not leave valuables in plain view in their cars and are reminding people to lock their cars when they park,” Crime Prevention Specialist Marsha Mann said.
Many thefts from automobiles could be prevented if people simply locked their cars. Favorite items include GPS devices, cell phones, laptops computers, purses and wallets.
“We always encourage people to lock valuables in their trunk,” Mann said. Persons who have to leave cars out overnight should be especially cautious about items left in their cars.
Information about the burglaries can be reported to Crime Stoppers at (805) 549-STOP.
