San Luis Obispo police officers arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of burglary after he was allegedly caught unplugging electronics from a San Luis Obispo home.
Police responded to a report of an interrupted residential burglary at 1269 Murray St., Apartment C on Feb. 19 at 12:57 a.m. The suspect, San Luis Obispo resident Adrian Garcia, fled before officers arrived.
The alleged victim, San Luis Obispo resident Brian Sinclair, 21, said he was returning home when he looked through his apartment window and saw Garcia standing inside. Garcia was holding Sinclair’s disconnected computer.
Sinclair entered his apartment and saw that other electronic equipment had been unplugged and removed from their original locations.
Sinclair confronted Garcia before a struggle allegedly took place. Garcia was able to flee from the apartment. While police officers were searching the area, Sinclair saw Garcia near the apartments at 1262 Murray St. Sinclair and witnesses chased after Garcia as the suspect ran into a nearby apartment.
Officers arrived and detained Garcia without further incident. Garcia was positively identified by the victim and arrested. Garcia was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail for PC459, residential burglary. Bail was set at $40,000.
