About 30 Cal Poly students met at Mott Lawn today at 11 a.m. to march on behalf of LGBTQ rights. As they walked, pairs of same-sex students held hands. The leaders at the front of the line chanted “What do we want?” which was met with a loud response of “equality.” When they asked “when do we want it?” students answered with “now” and “yesterday.” At the end of the march was a mock wedding ceremony complete with a minister, decorated arch and wedding cake topped with two cakes with same-sex figurines. The couples were forced to separate at the end of the wedding, representing the laws against same-sex marriage in California.
