The Bladerunner Salon and Day Spa is now in its new location at the corner of Monterey and Morro streets. It’s also celebrating their 20th anniversary, and is inviting the public to come to the open house and grand reopening tonight from 6 to 9 p.m.
The new space at 894 Monterey St. is much larger than the old location which was just across the street. Owners Todd LeMay and Stephen Patrick have filled the large retail area with various product lines, from haircare products such as BioSilk, Paul Mitchell and Redken to nail care products such as California Mango, Nailtiques, and OPI, and even candles from Shadow & Light Aromatherapy and glospa.
The interior, designed by Patrick himself, gives the salon and spa areas a very relaxing character, soothing patrons the minute they walk in the door. The cutting and styling area is very open. On the left side, a separate, quiet area exists for massages, facials and other such spa treatments.
It also has a stunning deep crimson hallway and a calming seating area with an Oriental theme. Japanese characters are placed on the wall above as an art piece. Soothing music is played throughout the salon.
“We have a great staff, very hands-on,” said Cindy Mayr, promotions coordinator for The Bladerunner Salon and Day Spa. The staff of 34 professionals is highly trained, and works with the customers to get exactly what they would like out of their experience. During massages, they will ask if there are any specific sensitive areas to be aware of.
According to The Bladerunner Web site, “The creative and expert staff works with state-of-the-art equipment, keeps current with the newest technology through continuing-education classes, and uses only the finest professional products.”
Customer Josh Cohen received a Swedish massage recently, and was very pleased with his experience. “I haven’t felt that stress-free since before I started Cal Poly in 1996,” he said.
The Bladerunner offers a range of services: hair cutting and styling, chemical services, body treatments, facial and body waxing (for both men and women), gift packages and packages for brides and grooms.
When scheduling an appointment, the staff will do its best to accommodate the client’s needs with extended hours. They are now open seven days a week, with earlier or later appointments available for their clientele’s busy schedules.
According to a press release, owners LeMay and Patrick “transformed what was previously (the) Kinko’s Copies location into a retreat of light, color, relaxation and flair.”
