Cal Poly men’s soccer head coach Paul Holocher resigned Monday after eight years at the helm. Holocher led the Mustangs to a 72-60-25 record, including five winning seasons and the program’s first Division I postseason win.
Holocher has accepted a job as the Director of Development with Maui United Soccer Club.
“I would like to thank Cal Poly Athletics for having given me the opportunity to coach and develop the Mustang soccer program over the last eight years,” Holocher said in a statement released Monday. “I have enjoyed the experience immensely and I’m very pleased and proud with where the program has come during this time.”
“I want to especially thank all the great friends and soccer fans who have been so supportive to the program over my time here as coach. I have a genuine love for this amazing university, San Luis Obispo and the Central Coast community. The time is right for a new adventure and challenge and my family and I are excited for this.”
Second-year assistant coach Phil Ruskin will take over as interim head coach, according to a press release from the athletics department.
Cal Poly is set to start practices later this week.
