San Luis Obispo will once again be buzzin’ when Shwayze takes the SLO Brewing Co. stage on June 14.
The rapper is known for his songs “Buzzin'” and “Corona and Lime.”
“Shwayze’s shows are fun, high energy and sexy,” SLO Brew general manager Monte Schaller said. “He’s got great crowd control and lots of interaction, which we love here at SLO Brew, since the room is so small.”
Schaller said there isn’t a way to know what to expect from a returning performer, but a typical performance is “sweaty, fun, dancing and singing along.”
“I feel like he’s played in San Luis Obispo often enough now and is pretty comfortable in town with the Cal Poly students, so he gets especially excited to be back,” Schaller said.
Shwayze, a laid-back Malibu, Calif. native, spends times with his fans whenever he comes to visit, Schaller said.
Business administration freshman Thatcher Sammet described the vibe of Shwayze’s music as uplifting.
“He’s got that summertime vibe,” Sammet said. “We’re about to go into summer, so that’s cool that he’s coming because it’ll get us in the mood.”
Schaller, on the other hand, said his style is a west coast-party style.
“We handpicked this show just for graduation weekend as a student send-off into summer,” Schaller said. “We felt his music and show fit the energy and vibe for that weekend.”
Tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door. The all-ages show begins at 7 p.m.
