The Real Food Collaborative is a club working to bring healthy and affordable food to campus. Their project is a student-run business that plans to open a food cart on campus next year.
They held a menu testing for students at Dexter Lawn on Monday.
“Really we’re just trying to pass on all of the savings that we get to the consumer — to the students,” Real Food Collaborative President Jesse Gibson said. “We are students and we’re here for the students, that’s really our purpose.”
Students could purchase meals made with Cal Poly meat and locally grown produce. The goal of the tasting was to collect market research for the food cart they plan to open in Fall 2014.
Popular dishes such as gluten-free quinoa bowls and wraps sold out before the end of the day.
