The winner of Cal Poly’s Greek Week 2014 was District 2, but its victory was just part of the story.
1. Penny wars
Each district was made up of a group of sororities and fraternities with their own corresponding color. Each district had a bucket for collecting the most pennies for charity.
2. Petra takeover
Districts took over Petra in color-coded T-shirts from 6:30-10:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Each student checked in to earn points for their district.
3. Blood drive
United Blood Services parked busses on Mott Lawn for participants to donate while earning points for their district.
4. Donut Dash
Participants of the donut games relay had to catch a donut in their mouth, spin around 10 times, eat a donut off a string, walk through cones with a donut on their face and then find and eat a donut in a tin of powdered sugar.
5. Beach Day
Greek Week headed to Pismo Beach this past Saturday with different activities including human hamster ball races, beach volleyball, obstacle courses, tug-of-war and other competitions.
“It’s fun to see the whole greek community participating together,” said child development freshman Scarlett Fivey, who participated with Kappa Alpha Theta and District 6. Fivey said her sorority is mainly raising money for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), which benefits foster children.
