Facebook comes in handy not only to stay in touch with friends and family, but also to help you connect with the campus community. Here are pages that can assist you with that:
1. California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly)
Don’t be mistaken by other similar pages that have “Cal Poly SLO” in the title. The official page is titled “California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly).” This is the one page that will help you connect with more than one organization on campus and other events.
Its posts vary, from linking to Cal Poly-related programs to posting selfies of Cal Poly President Jeffrey Armstrong with students at commencement. Also, when you enter Cal Poly in your “about me” section and type in this page title, it will directly link to it.
The Cal Poly Athletics page is not just for athletes; it’s for everyone.
It helps you stay informed about the different sporting events happening on and off campus. Check scores of that baseball game you missed or find out where you can buy tickets to that basketball game that you’re dying to go see. The page also helps promote any athletics-related fundraisers and programs.
3. Cal Poly Associated Students, Inc. (ASI)
Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) represents students on decisions related to campus issues in addition to organizing events for students. The Facebook page lets students know about events happening on campus as well as in the surrounding community.
Interested in becoming part of ASI? Its Facebook page is a good place to check for information on available positions. Check it out.
4. Cal Poly SLO Career Services
Let’s face it, one of the main reasons we’re in college is to prepare for the workforce. A simple way to do that is by keeping in touch with Career Services through its Facebook page. The page is very helpful in informing students about various services, events and job opportunities provided by Career Services. Students can also find words of career advice and links to information they can benefit from professionally. Hours and contact information are also included.
5. Robert E. Kennedy Library, Cal Poly
The library is the go-to study spot. Liking its page helps students stay informed about what’s happening in the library, because it’s not just a place to check out books.
Wondering when there will be stress-relieving dogs or goats again? You can find out on Facebook. Or you can find links to pictures of them on the page, as well. They also post friendly motivational statuses when midterms and finals are around.
We go to the bookstore for our everyday school necessities or to add a sweater to our green and gold collection. But did you know that every now and then there are special promotions? If you don’t, liking the bookstore’s Facebook page can help you know when those deals are happening.
You can also find news about products and even read about the bookstore’s buyback dates and hours when textbook season is around.
Alright ladies, this page is for you.
Her Campus is an online national community for college women with chapters at different campuses across the country, including Cal Poly.
