Three weeks after BeatStream took home the Startup Weekend crown, students are getting another opportunity to collaborate and create something innovative on short notice. This time, the focus is on websites and apps.
Students will get 12 hours to participate in the Second Annual Design and Dev Hackathon on Saturday. Designers, developers, engineers and entrepreneurs are invited to form teams and build prototypes for judges to critique.
The event kicks off Friday in the Bonderson Engineering Center (building 197, room 104) with a social hour at 6 p.m. and brainstorming and team building at 7 p.m. Saturday begins with registration at 7 a.m., team pitches at 8 p.m. and winners announced by 9 p.m.
According to the Design and Dev website, food and refreshments will be provided, but participants need to bring their own computers.
As of Wednesday afternoon, only five spots remained to register as a spectator. The Developer/Engineer and Designer/UX positions, their corresponding waiting lists, and the marketer/idea person position were all sold out. Registration is free.
Hackathon is collaborative effort between the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Graphic Communication Department and the Creative Media Development club.
